Adar Gandelsman was an Israeli model. She was the first runner-up in Miss Israel 2017, receiving the title of Miss Universe Israel, and participated in the Miss Universe 2017 pageant. Adar was not a finalist in the Miss Universe 2017 pageant held in Las Vegas. Gandelsman took selfies with Miss Universe Iraq Sarah Idan during the pageant. Idan as well as her family left Iraq in 2017 because of protests from Iraqi citizens. Gandelsman also took a selfie with Miss Israel. Gandelsman is an Israeli citizen from Ashkelon, Israel. Her parents were Ashkenazi Jews who came to Israel in 1992 from Brazil. Her initial name, Adar, is a Hebrew calendar month.

They were upset because she had taken a photo of Miss Israel with Miss Israel. Miss Israel served as Miss Universe Iraq at the time. Gandelsman hails from Ashkelon and was born in Israel to Ashkenazi Jewish parents. [1][2] Adar is her Hebrew name, and also the month in which she was born in.
